MAGNETIC RESONANCE CHOLANGIOPANCREATHOGRAPHY IN DIAGNOSIS OF CHOLEDOCHOLITHIASIS
V.I. Mamchich, M.D. Nakashidze, Z.Z. Paratsiy, Yu.B. Minin
The aim – to improve the diagnostic of choledocholithiasis with magnetic-resonance cholangiopancreatography.
Materials and methods. The diagnostics results in 102 patients with atypical (69 patients) and asymptomatic (33 patients) choledocholithiasis are presented in the work.
Results and discussion. Ultrasound research has been done to all the patients. Direct signs of choledocholithiasis were identified only
in 32 (31.3 %) patients, and indirect signs were identified in 35 (34.3 %) patients. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography
(ERCP) was performed in 62 patients of 64 (in two patients due to their anatomical features it was not possible). Concrements were
identified in 60 (96.6 %) patients, while complications were found in 6 (9.6 %) patients. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreathography (MRCP) was conducted to 42 patients. Concrements were identified in 41(97.6 %) patients. There were not complications when
MRCP were conducting.
Conclusions. MRCP is a modern highly informative method of choledocholitiasis identifying that completely allows avoid diagnostic
ERCP and does not depend on the size of common bile duct and concrement diameter.
